Repairs require the Cut-off as locals prepare for Stage 2
South East Water repaired a burst water main at Dorset and Boronia Roads last week. “The water was off for several hours while our crews fixed the problem,” said media representative Luke Enright.

“We take water loss in the system very seriously which is why the water was shut off. While this is unfortunate for customers it is necessary due to the current water shortages to do everything we can to preserve water”.

The water loss raised awareness for some residents in the area, indicating how much they depend on this precious commodity. “I did not realise how lucky we are to have running water,” said one local.

Starting this month Water Minister John Thwaite introduced Stage 2 water restrictions to Melbourne. Despite increased public compliance to government water restrictions, the lack of rainfall requires further involvement from citizens.

Mr Thwaites said that water authorities would be watching closely to ensure Melburnians comply with Stage 2 water restrictions, with authorities conducting patrols throughout Melbourne to ensure people understand and comply with water restrictions.?

The new restrictions affect how everybody uses water outdoors including businesses, industry and government – so everyone has a role to play in conserving water.
